A Bit about Vidale Safaris
Vidale Safaris was founded by Eugenio and Heather Vidale in the early 1970's and directed by Eugenio and Heather until the untimely death of Eugenio. Vidale Safaris was continued under the guidance an management of Fico their Son and Heather
The Managing Director of Vidale Safaris Frederico (Fico) Vidale was born in Lusaka Zambia in 1967 to Heather and Eugenio Vidale. Eugenio was a Professional Hunter in Zambia when he and Heather were married. Fico was truly brought up in the African Bush by his Mother and Father who began Vidale Safaris. Fico was taken on his first buffalo hunt by his Father Eugenio at the age of 4 which caused a bit of worry to his Mother Heather. Fico was the youngest person at the age of 19 to become a fully qualified Professional Hunter in Zambia. Fico has Hunted all over Africa and moved to Tanzania so that he would be more centrally located to better manage the expansion of Vidale Safaris. Fico is on the board of the Zambian Professional Hunters Association and is completely fluent in English, Italian, Spanish, Swahili and many of the local Zambian Languages. Fico is also the Managing Director of Sofram Safaris in Zambia, African Bush Company and Enzagi Safaris in Tanzania.
Vidale Safaris is located in the magnificent Luangawa Valley. Vidale controls the Mwanya Game Management Area arguably the finest Big Game Concession in Southern Africa. This fertile Valley is teaming with every variety of game listed in our Animal List and offers fantastic opportunities to assure a successful Safari. Our area is several thousand acres and bordered by four different National Parks, Mwanya is perfectly situated to assure a thrilling Safari. The Luangwa River is the heart of this valley and our Safaris are conducted from our first class camp which is located along the River. This results in a very relaxed hunt. This concession is renowned for it's big maned lions, large plentiful buffalo herds which contain large buffalo and large leopard.
Our Luxurious camp with beautiful fully contained cottages is situated right on the River and offers a panoramic view of the area and is perfectly situated for the cool breeze along the river as well as a very relaxing atmosphere for both the Hunter and Non-Hunter. You will be afforded the opportunity to photograph hundreds of animals and birds from the camp. Should a not shooter who accompanies you wishes to do a bit of a Photographic Safari from our Camp this is something which we may arrange with proper notice.
Our Camp Manager Stephen Henderson will see to your every need and keep you in stitches while doing it. The Staff which Stephen manages are each and every one hand picked for their ability and dedication to your success. Stephen and all of our Professional Hunters are fully licensed by the Zambian Government as well as full members of the Zambian Professional Hunters Association.
The food is prepared by our professional trained Chef to assure that your every dietary need is met. You may rest assured that you shall not go hungry or become bored with the food with which you are provided. Please let us know in advance of any special dietary needs which you may have. We do not provide alcoholic beverages in camp unless you provide us with an order or make arrangements to bring your own along with you.
You will fly into Lusaka International Airport where you shall clear Customs. Lusaka International Airport is a very well run, clean and neat Airport. You shall be welcomed at Lusaka International by a member of our staff who shall assist you in getting to your connecting flight to either Camp or Mfuwe International Airport by Commercial flight where you shall be met by our Staff for the short ride to Camp. We have an Airstrip which is a short 30 minute drive from Camp and affords easy access to Lusaka. For those who are coming to Zambia through South Africa our professional staff will assist you in assuring a smooth transition through to Lusaka.
A Safari to Africa to many is a trip of a lifetime and we at Vidale realize that and wish to assist you in realizing your dream of a truly Wild African Safari. Our 7 Day Safari: Is for those who wish a shorter hunt or a less costly option from the big Cat Safaris. These Safaris offer the opportunity to bring home one Cape Buffalo along with a choice of 6 other species. See the page Zambia Price List 2010 for a listing of species available on the 7 day Safari.
Our 14 Day Safari: Is for those who wish to hunt a leopard along with plains game and is less costly than a lion Safari.
Our 18 Day Safari: Offers the opportunity for one of our big maned lions on quota along with plains game.
Our 21 Day Safari: Is the opportunity to bag both lion and leopard plus plains game.
Our Safaris do tend to fill up quickly, those who have been with us previously are given first opportunity so please do not hesitate to contact us with your desire either for the remaining dates in 2010 or book ahead for 2011
